two for two
Friday, December 7

We bade our last farewells to the 2 ORDing personnel in our branch today. And tomorrow my COOS cell group will sing its swan song, meeting for the last time to say goodbye before dissolving for good.

I never realised till now that they'd be one after the other, like a double thwack to the head. Two farewells in two days, and I'm already so saddened by the first one. I don't know how I'll handle tomorrow's with today's still on my mind!

The strange thing is that, I knew about both these inevitable farewells many months ago, but I never once thought it'd hit me as hard as it currently is hitting me. I guess the reason why it's slightly more bitter than sweet for me, is that it feels highly unlikely that I'll be crossing paths with some of these people in future. Perhaps I'm slightly jaded in this respect, after seeing so many of my friends from younger days just drift apart, never to be spoken of or spoken to, other than the passing, "Oh, you know him? He's my primary school classmate!"

That said, I guess one can always drop the occasional message to a friend (which reminds me, I haven't done so for Ms Ching for a long while!). We are supposed to take advantage of the advances in technology after all, right? Do people find it weird, though, suddenly getting a message from a friend from a previous phase of life? I personally don't, but as I've come to learn over the course of NS, I do a lot more emotional/feel-y  kind of stuff, as compared to some others... (I honestly still don't get how an SMS to thank people for good company is considered 'gay'!) But there's no harm making the effort I guess --- better to try and fail than to let things die off and wonder wistfully about the might-have-beens...

Mmm, I don't know where I'm going with this post anymore, so I think it's time for some music therapy.

A shout out to Kevin and Tim from the branch; Leanne, Anna, Cephas, Joel, Sarah, Sierra, Jeremy, Jianzhong, Keith, Yaowen, Darren from #ILOVEMYCELL; and the cell alumni --- Shums, Jon Yap, Andrea and Val. I sincerely hope we'll still keep in touch, but regardless of whether we're successful in that, thanks for the many smiles and moments of bliss you've all provided me with over the time I've had knowing you guys. God bless you all! (:

AMEN;
